Iraq IED Blasts Kill Five U.S. Soldiers, Injure Five

WASHINGTON, Aug. 14, 2005 – Five U.S. soldiers were killed and five were wounded by improvised-explosive-device blasts across Iraq today and yesterday, according to coalition reports.
One 1st Corps Support Command soldier was killed and three were wounded by an IED while conducting a combat logistics patrol at about 2:45 a.m. today east of Rutbah.
Three Task Force Liberty soldiers died and one was injured when an IED detonated during a patrol near Tuz at about 11 p.m. on Aug. 13.
A Task Force Baghdad soldier was killed when his unit struck an IED in west Baghdad at 3:45 p.m. Aug. 13. One other soldier was wounded in the terrorist attack.
The wounded soldiers were taken to a coalition medical facility.
The names of the deceased and wounded soldiers involved are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, and the incidents are being investigated.
